Senior Technology Scout


Sitting within the Eakin R&D Innovation Team the Senior Technology Scout will perform market and technology scouring to identify, assess, prioritise and report on opportunities for the Eakin Healthcare Group to sustainably diversify its activities beyond ostomy.

The Innovation Team has a range of responsibilities supporting the near-term development activities for Group companies, but increasingly exploring opportunities to grow the Eakin Healthcare Group through investment and acquisition.  The role will work closely and collaboratively with other members of the Innovation Team, Eakin R&D and Eakin Healthcare Group companies.

The ideal candidate will have held a similar role, such as within a medical device company, an incubator, or a consultancy. Importantly, demonstrable experience of a range of activities is required, including, but not limited to, scoping opportunity areas, sourcing technology, setting assessment criteria, lead evaluation, forecasting impact and likelihood and business case development to summarise priority opportunities.



Technology Scouting Project Delivery

  • Work with the Director of Innovation to develop projects which deliver against the strategic plans for business growth.
  • Contribute to the definition and execution of technology search plans, assessment criteria to enable a detailed understanding of technologies, risks, and synergies in unmet need areas.
  • Carry out scouting and evaluation of technologies to identify a range of opportunities which meet the agreed diversification objectives.
  • Conduct detailed and targeted research using complex data sets and summarize and explain complex ideas to non-expert audiences.
  • Participate in the internal due diligence process to develop business cases for consideration and contribute to the outsourced investment case development for prioritised opportunities.
  • Support work to identify new opportunity areas and define unmet needs for scouting.
  • Network with external contacts to help with the early identification of technologies that will enable and support the strategy and portfolio.
  • Work with outsourced delivery partners to extend searching capability, focused technology understanding and support due diligence activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within the timescales and budget agreed.

Role to be based in Cambridge with travel between Group sites and other locations as project research and networking dictates.
