Extrusion Machine Operative

ABOUT THE ROLE  

The purpose of the Extrusion Machine Operative is to support the Production Manager in ensuring that the Amsorb extrusion line operates optimally, helping the department manufacture Armstrong Medical Products. This role is to follow a continental shift pattern. 

KEY ACTIVITIES  

  • Operating machinery in a continuous running environment. 
  • Accurate completion of works orders in accordance with the Device Master Record. 
  • Assisting the maintenance team with basic planned maintenance, including the disassembly/assembly of key components. 
  • Mixing raw materials, recording data and adjusting settings in line with SPC charts. 
  • Carrying out accurate stock checks of raw materials, including notification of shortages to Department Manager. 
  • Correct identification of all finished goods and raw materials both pre and post production 
  • Monitoring quality of all work in progress as well as finished goods. 
  • Reporting issues liable to prevent the smooth and efficient running of the department to the management. 
  • Assisting the Supervisor or Department Manager with cleaning of plant and machinery and general housekeeping. 
  • Work within the guidelines set by Quality System at all times including input of accurate data into Production Records.

 KEY SKILLS 

 Essential  

  • Machine operation in a manufacturing environment 
  • Good attendance record 
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to be flexible and carry out manual tasks as requested 
  • Previous manufacturing experience 

 Desirable  

  • FLT experience 
  • Experience working with automated lines and product inspection 
  • Experience in carrying out quality checks 

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS  

Internal  

  • Working within the production team.  
  • Reporting to the Department Manager. 

External
