Product Designer – 12-month FTC / Mat Leave Cover
ABOUT THE ROLE
Demonstrating a high level of competency in CAD modelling and analytical review and having the requisite skills required to work in medical device design and design-for-manufacturing, this role enables the skilled Product Designer to bring-to-life the concepts and ideas around innovation for device clinical effectiveness and patient safety.
Based in Coleraine and focusing primarily on medical devices for anaesthesia and critical care settings, success in the role will be reflected in the individual’s high productivity when working in effective teams – translating concepts and ideas into medical devices integrated within manufacturing systems having gained regulatory approval for their use on patients.
Ongoing development in the role is facilitated by involvement in many facets of maintaining medical devices on the market – including involvement in projects to improve the design of devices through iterative changes.
KEY ACTIVITIES
- Conceptualising design ideas through CAD modelling, prototyping and proof-of-concept activities
- Translating caregiver and patient clinical requirements into proposed designs
- Maintaining Design Control documentation and records in accordance with QMS requirements
- Building documented evidence to prove that medical devices are safe and effective when designed and approved for production, including originating design FMEAs and participating in clinical risk management activities
- Designing-for-manufacture, including mould design and downstream product realisation activities – such as device assembly, testing, packaging and labelling
- Investigative work, leading to iterative design changes and corrections to existing medical devices
