Insights Specialist

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Insights & Product Manager, TG Eakin and based in Northern Ireland, this role supports and facilitates an insights-led culture, leading to new innovations across global markets and a user-based approach to all messaging, communication and development of both service and product propositions. This involves gathering, analysing and directing market and user insights and identifying clearly those which we should progress to inform new innovations across global markets and managing the development and launch of new products.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES

Driving the overall Insights Process with management of certain key areas

  • Full responsibility for the management of our online consumer panel – the Voice Panel.
  • Engage in exploratory research that will inform our long-term ostomy strategy and shortlist recommended projects for handover to Group Innovation team and assist the Innovation team as required.
  • Lead external market research projects as required.
  • Manage the insights process by categorising insights on a group-wide basis and incorporate visibility of contributions and their value to the organisation.
  • Promote an insights’ led culture, influencing colleagues to see the value in insights and incorporate them into their work.  Use the full understanding of insights to drive better business outcomes.
  • Assist with validation of insights through appropriate means (e.g. via nurse panel).
  • Manage engagement on our internal data gathering hub - the Innovation Lab - by ensuring it appears attractive to users and functions appropriately and encourage quality participation.
  • Support activities around Eakin’s nurse panel (CORE). Help with design, preparation and delivery of sessions.

Key participant in the New Product Introduction process, managing product through to launch

  • Engagement in exploratory research of short-listed themes, downloading from the Innovation Team and providing recommendations on behalf of the Commercial Team
  • Collating insights and research, work closely with the Product Executive to ensure that these insights are translated into requirements and use these to inform the NPI process.
  • Provide the insights required for specification documents ‘User Requirements Specification’ and ‘Market Requirements Specification’ for new product introduction.
  • Project manage commercial aspects of product launches to markets.
  • Liaise with the Product Executive to ensure timely delivery of packaging for new product.

KEY SKILLS

Essential

  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Proven experience of identifying insights and extracting the value from them to inform communications and guide the development of new products
  • Previous marketing/product design/project management experience.
  • Excellent IT skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Access to transport

Desirable

  • Experience of healthcare brands and understanding of market dynamics, quality and regulatory requirements of medical devices or health-related products.
  • Formal marketing, product design, project management qualification
  • Fluency in a foreign language.

 

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

  • Sales & Marketing Team: Sharing end user insights; to drive a culture of insights led approach to Sales & Marketing. Providing updates on New Product Introduction milestones to ensure timely execution of commercial tasks relative to product launches.
  • Research & Development Team: providing user insights to inform various stages of the New Product Introduction process and ensure new products are user-focussed and commercial inputs are available at the relevant time.
  • Clinical Team: cross functional collaboration on nurse and consumer interaction; to identify and validate end user insights
  • Innovation Team: build on insights that the innovation team are working on and validate insights they have found; ensure that innovation and insights teams work collaboratively.

External

  • Nurses: at nurse panel meetings, when groups of nurses visit Comber or at international conferences; to identify and validate end user insights.
  • Consumers: at consumer panel meetings; to gain insight into their lives as consumers, to validate those insights and ultimately drive forward the development of innovative, user-based products.
  • Business Partners: remotely or during customer visits; to build knowledge of our customers and identify any unmet needs.
  • Other stakeholders:e. surgeons, tissue viability nurses etc, ad hoc contact, to identify and validate end user insights.
